History
From a Simple Beginning
The company started in 1991, when the owner started to make and sell popcorn from his video shop in Tottenham, North London. Philon, Buzz's Company Director, then quickly developed the business to include the sale of sweets, nuts and other snacks.
Initially trading from the video shop, they would make and hand-pack the products in the evening and then travel around London daily searching for new customers and supplying their existing ones. These included all independent shops, grocers, newsagents and video rental outlets.
At first, when the customer base was small, this worked well but as they gained more customers and their volumes increased, it became necessary to invest in some packaging machinery and a small industrial unit in order to keep up with demand.
The new machinery was a turning point, there was now a need for new staff and most importantly it meant the company was now able to extend their product range dramatically. Then came the major defining moment for the company when they developed the ever successful small pre-packed bags, which is today the 39p or 3 for £1 range. This created a wider market which inevitably led to higher sales.
Today, Buzz has an annual 40% - 60% trade increase and has recently moved to brand new premises which will again increase their capabilities and open new avenues for the company to explore. Buzz currently trades with many independent distributors and with several larger organisations.
Although Philon is now the Director of a much bigger concern, he still believes in his dream. When asked, he will say that hard work, ambition, passion and vision are what have brought the Company to where it is today, and what will catapult Buzz to well-deserved future success.
